2012 UPPO Annual Conference
Michael Houghton, Morris Nichols Commercial Law Counseling Group partner, and Brenda Mayrack, Commercial Law Counseling Group associate, will serve as session presenters at the Unclaimed Property Professionals Organization (UPPO) Annual Conference, March 11-14, 2012 in Orlando, Florida.
Mike’s session, Anomalies in Unclaimed Property State Law Interpretation, will describe situations when the state's unclaimed property law seems to say one thing but the state's administrative policy says something else. He will be joined by Valerie M. Jundt of Keane. Brenda’s session, Building Your Foundation: Understanding and Comparing the 1981 and 1995 Uniform Unclaimed Property Acts, will provide an overview and comparison of the two uniform acts that provide the foundation for state unclaimed property statutes. She will be joined by Michael Rato of McElroy, Deutsch, Mulvaney & Carpenter, LLP.
Michael Houghton is the President of The National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws (Uniform Law Commission). He, along with fellow Morris Nichols partner Walter Tuthill and Thomson Reuters, co-authored “Unclaimed Property,” a comprehensive analysis of the law of unclaimed property published in BNA’s Corporate Practice Series Portfolio. Brenda Mayrack is an associate focusing on unclaimed property, administrative, commercial and insurance law, and government entities and regulation issues. She has co-authored several articles about Delaware’s unclaimed property laws. With Mike Houghton, she helped craft the 2009 amendments to Delaware’s unclaimed property statutes.
