Michael Houghton Joins Board of the Pete du Pont Freedom Award Foundation
Wilmington, DE (August 25, 2015) - Morris, Nichols, Arsht & Tunnell LLP partner Michael Houghton recently joined the Board of Directors of The Pete du Pont Freedom Award Foundation.
“The Foundation is not a political action committee, not a partisan vehicle. It’s a 'think tank' to promote growth, opportunity and independence for businesses and individuals. These aren’t Democratic or Republican ideas, they are ideas that work for Delaware. Delaware works best when we cooperate, in a bipartisan fashion, to solve problems,” Mike said. “My Republican friends have invited me, a Democrat, to work with them to help improve the state and I am very pleased to do so - it is, after all, the 'Delaware way'.”
Mike has served in many leadership roles in the bar and business communities and has been honored for his contributions. In January 2015, he received the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce A.R. Morris Board Member of the Year award. In November 2014, the Delaware State Bar Association presented Mike with the Award for Outstanding Service to the Courts and the Bar. He currently serves on the Board of the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce, the Delaware Public Policy Institute, and the Delaware Bar Foundation, as well as the Executive Committees of the Delaware State Bar Association and Morris Nichols.
In his legal practice, Mike represents governmental entities, banks, trust companies, insurance companies and public utilities in commercial transactions and before regulatory authorities and state, county and local governments. He has also advised and represented companies on issues involving unclaimed property law for more than 25 years.
