Wilmington, DE (May 14, 2014) – Lex Machina has released its 2013 Patent Litigation Year in Review.  That report analyzed trends in patent litigation in the United States for the period 2009-2013.

Based on an extensive review of computerized data, Lex Machina reported that Morris, Nichols, Arsht & Tunnell LLP had more open patent cases in 2013 than any other Delaware law firm. In fact, it was reported that Morris Nichols had the most open patent cases of any law firm in the U.S. in 2013 (604), and the most patent cases of any firm in the U.S. for the period 2009-2013 (1369). "Morris Nichols is so much more active than any other firm in Delaware. They've really established a commanding, dominating presence in the market," said Owen Byrd, Lex Machina's general counsel.

Lex Machina also reported that 1336 patent cases were filed in the District of Delaware in 2013, reflecting the largest increase in patent case filings over 2012 (33%) of any district court in the U.S.  More patent cases went to trial in Delaware than in any other district in 2013.
