Delaware Public Policy Institute Elects Michael Houghton to Board of Trustees

Wilmington, DE (June 19, 2015) - On Wednesday, June 17, the Delaware Public Policy Institute (DPPI) elected Morris, Nichols, Arsht & Tunnell LLP partner Michael Houghton to its Board of Trustees.

“I am very pleased to join the Board of DPPI. My entire professional career has involved working with the mix of legal, business, regulatory and public policy issues which shape our state. I look forward to helping to study and develop solutions to the difficult challenges Delaware faces, especially in the areas of economic development and the fiscal and financial health and stability of the state.”

A leader in the Delaware legal and political community for more than 30 years, Mike has worked in numerous roles within the Delaware bar and business associations and he has been honored for his outstanding service. In January 2015, he received the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce (“DSCC”) A.R. Morris Board Member of the Year award. In November 2014, the Delaware State Bar Association (“DSBA”) presented Mike with the Award for Outstanding Service to the Courts and the Bar. Mike has recently been appointed by Chief Justice Leo E. Strine Jr. to the new Judicial Strategies Committee designed to implement long-term strategic planning for the Delaware courts and by the President of the DSBA to serve as a member of the Board of Directors of the Delaware Bar Foundation.

He serves on the Board of the DSCC, the Executive Committee of the DSBA and the Morris Nichols Executive Committee.

In his legal practice, Mike represents governmental entities, banks, trust companies, insurance companies and public utilities in commercial transactions and before regulatory authorities and state, county and local governments. He has also advised and represented companies on issues involving unclaimed property law for more than 25 years.
