Judge Andrews to Take Senior Status in December 2023
The U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware announced today that Judge Richard Andrews intends to take Senior Status at the end of December 2023, though he expects to continue a full caseload as a Senior Judge. Judge Andrews’s move to Senior Judge would create an opening on the bench, allowing the President to nominate a new candidate for the district court.
Judge Andrews was nominated by President Obama and joined the bench in November 2011 following a distinguished tenure in the Office of United States Attorney for the District of Delaware and the Delaware Department of Justice. Since joining the bench, Judge Andrews has presided over more than 5,000 cases, including more than 2,600 patent cases, making his docket one of the top five patent caseloads in the country.
